Why PACS server cannot do AI?
All technology becomes archaic sooner or later, and the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) at any diagnostic center or hospital is no exception. On an average the lifetime of any software including PACS is approximately 5 years. However, most of the diagnostic centers and hospitals ignore the warning signs when their PACS medical imaging solution comes near to its expiry date, when they do so they find themselves in the middle of a serious catastrophe when the stored data is lost or when other disasters strike. The imaging centers have backups to restore the lost images which is again extra cost investment, but unless you find a solution to this problems with outdated PACS, the system database size increases drastically with the PACS getting old. When you lose a patient study you are exposing your practice to legal consequences if the patient finds out about the loss.

All technology becomes archaic sooner or later, and the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) at any diagnostic center or hospital is no exception. On an average the lifetime of any software including PACS is approximately 5 years.

Patient imaging cannot be shared
Patients, referring physicians and other specialists all they need is to access patient studies in a very fast environment. The sooner they view the reports, the better they will be able to diagnosis. The doctors and radiologist should be able to access to the data immediately from anywhere is more flexible about referring their patients back. If sharing imaging studies and reports is not possible in your PACS, then your PACS is out of date. Burning patients studies in CD or DVD and sending it through mail is not acceptable solution in today's fast paced technology day and age.

Viewing Is Complicated
PACS medical imaging solution should come with a web based viewer that's platform-agnostic. Your existing PACS is not integrated with a web based viewer then its out of date. With the availability of a straightforward web based viewer through a browser without the hassle of downloading any extra software to view images it becomes very simple for the doctors and patients. The current PACS that you are using should easily integrate with your electronic health record (EHR) system and it should support integrations that allow the flow of information between patient studies or records, medical imaging and reports.

Using It Is a Pain
Identifying the pain point of the PACS users and addressing their pain causing issues on time is one big challenge for the solution providers. Today PACS user technicians, radiologists, IT managers, Doctors face many issues which they feel if eliminated can ease their life. The first main pain point identified is slowness from accessing the patient studies. You need no interruption from accessing those studies as you want to provide the best diagnosis possible. The patient medical imaging studies should be very clear and should open fast without any delay. As the number of scanners increases each study takes a little longer to read—which can add up to a lot of wasted time for radiologists.

It's Not Up to Standard
Your PACS may be not up to the standard Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine DICOM format. Many systems these days are of vendor-neutral. The doctors and radiologists cannot download and view the patient studies in their own PACS or view using any medical viewer software if its not in the DICOM format. It is important that your data should be in the DICOM format and not a proprietary format specific to a single vendor.

You're Not in the Cloud
The latest PACS should be integrated in a cloud based system and it should allow backup or access through cloud based environment. Cloud based PACS are very simple for patients and doctors and it is very fast as compared to other systems without cloud. The most logical way to accomplish this goal is to use a cloud based PACS, which comes with data protection and can continue delivering better care. The main advantage of a cloud based PACS is the cost of IT infrastructure can be saved up to 50%. Cloud computing will allow (administrators) radiology departments in the various state run hospitals dynamic up scaling and down scaling operations without the burden of maintaining software and hardware.

Lifevoxel.AI
Existing technology such as RIS and PACS are seriously outdated technologies that are among the contributing factors. Moreover, they cost a lot and is not designed to get more referrals. We built a platform that offers a better alternative.

LifeVoxel.AI platform unique approach is based on 12 international patents that encompass visualization, AI, image management, workflow and billing. It works 100X faster and 42-80% cheaper than all our competitors. My vision is that it’ll assists radiologists’ productivity, reduce misdiagnosis, improve access, referrals love it, and sends more patients to imaging centers who uses it.
