(MIRD) The medical internal radiation dose committee is the society of nuclear medicine responsible for the internal dosimetry of diagnostic imaging radiopharmaceuticals.
•
The administrative dose guidelines are the predetermined value of radiation dose to workers, below the dose limit (administrative level),
which triggers a specific course of action when the dose value is exceeded, or is expected to be exceeded.

In radiology dose is the term for radiation related to the amount of energy absorbed in matter (for example absorbed dose, acute dose, effective dose, external dose, personal dose and committed dose equivalent). The SI standard unit of radiation dose is the gray. Dose refers also to the amount of medication, radiopharmaceutical or contrast medium used in diagnostic imaging. If a nucleus still has excess energy after attempts of stabilization, it can emit energy without changing the number of protons or neutrons. This process is named isomeric transition. One way of isomeric transition is the emission of a gamma rays, the other competing way is internal conversion, where the excess energy of the nucleus must exceed the binding energy of an electron, which then will be ejected from the atom.
